We recommend you read the information below. We hope this information will help you to feel prepared for your TRIATLAS Summer School and Workshop in Tamandaré/PE.
- In your hand luggage:
- Passport (incl. visa, if applicable);
- Visa letter;
- Credit/debit card and cash;
- Any medication you may need (doctor’s note confirming your condition and need for the medication, if applicable).
- Laptops/iPads with chargers;
- Travel adaptors;
- A notebook and pens;
- Make sure you have arranged your accommodation (on campus or on your own);
- Please get vaccinated, and if available, carry your vaccine passport (and masks) with you.
- Shuttle bus to Tamandaré:
- There will be two shuttle bus trips on Sunday (Sep. 25) to the CEPENE campus, Tamandaré. The morning bus leaves at 9 AM from the Ibis Airport Hotel. The afternoon bus will pick people up from the Ibis Airport Hotel and Recife Airport (specific location disclosed) at 3 PM;
- Each bus has space for only 18 people (so, please, sign-up the sheet to make sure you get a seat!)
- Shuttle bus to Recife:
- There will be one return bus right after the SSW ends (Saturday, Oct. 1; afternoon, ca. 3pm). Bus will go to Porto de Galinhas / Recife Airport;
- Details to come later. The possibility of a Sunday (Oct. 2) return bus is being explored.
- Remember that local students can take the bus trip if they want, just let us know!
- We encourage you to stay on campus (free accommodation on campus 4 people/room, dormitory style rooms), but it is not a requirement. If you choose to stay off-campus, you will need to pay for your accommodation.
- Confirmation of in-person attendance:
- Please confirm your attendance by filling the form sent by e-mail, even who did it before.
- It is compulsory to attend the icebreaker on Sunday evening (September, 25th), when a light meal will be served. Therefore, all attendees should arrive at the CEPENE campus before 6 pm;
- Classes start on Monday morning (September, 26th).
- Poster information:
- Different poster sizes and orientations are allowed as long as they are between A0 and A1, landscape or portrait. The A1 landscape format is preferred. However, if you are also presenting a poster at the conference, you can use the same poster at the SSW;
- There will be poster competition;
- Posters will go up during the ice breaker event and will stay up throughout the SSW – No self-introductions, instead, discussing your work with the lecturers around your poster.
- Currency exchange is probably best done at the airport;
- Have always with you a good insect repellent (usually with the substances icaridin or DEET);
- It is recommended you avoid drinking water straight from the tap;
- Electricity:
- Be sure to pack the appropriate travel plug adapter that fits the local sockets. The type N socket and plug are the official standard in Brazil;
- In Pernambuco, where Tamandaré and Porto de Galinhas are located, the supply voltage is 220V.
- Protect yourself against the sun (body and lip sunscreen, sunglasses, clothing) and enjoy the SSW/Tamandaré!
