The Organizing Committee of the 8th Symposium on Environmental Biotechnology and Engineering invites you to Recife, Pernambuco State, Brazil, where it will be held on October 20-24, 2025. We hope that you come to Recife to share with us and with the growing number of participants in the ISEBE community your research findings and to have the pleasure of meeting all of you on this special occasion. The event is open to researchers, students, and professionals from industries or government administrations interested in the symposium topics.
It is with great pleasure that the Organizing Committee of the 8ISEBE invites you to participate in this important event, which will be hosted at the Institute of Research in Petroleum and Energy (iLITPEG) of the Federal University of Pernambuco (UFPE), in Recife.

CONFERENCE OVERVIEW
8 ISEBE is part of a series of congresses created in 2004 at the initiative of a group of Mexican researchers, under the auspices of the association ABIAER (Association of Biotechnology, Environmental Engineering, and Renewable Energies), with the aim of:
- making known and sharing the latest advances in research in Biotechnology and Engineering in the field of environmental protection and the development of renewable energies
- promoting the exchange of knowledge between researchers of all nationalities, a key step in the process of developing technological solutions that can be implemented on a global scale
The mission of the 8ISEBE is to promote knowledge exchange and drive scientific advancement in the fields of environmental biotechnology and engineering. The symposium will bring together renowned researchers, professionals, and students from around the globe. Previous editions, held in France (2023), Mexico (2004, 2006, 2014, 2018), Spain (2008), and Argentina (2016), attracted 250 to 300 professionals from approximately thirty countries, establishing the symposium as a leading platform for innovation and excellence. For the second time, the event will be held in South America, being the first time in Brazil (Recife, Pernambuco).

WELCOME TO RECIFE
The city of Recife was founded in 1535, and it was the first state capital of Brazil. It has significantly participated in the Brazilian historical, cultural, economic, political, and social life since the arrival of the Portuguese in 1500. It is situated in the Northeastern region of Brazil, and it is one of the most eastern points of the Americas. Recife was during some centuries a larger sugarcane producer and one of the most important harbors of Brazil. This link will help you to discover a little more about Recife.
