Instructions for Oral Presentations

Oral presentations will be strictly limited to 12 minutes, followed by a 3-minute interval allocated for questions, discussion, and the introduction of the next speaker. Short oral presentations will be limited to 5 minutes, with time limits rigorously enforced by the session chair.

As a general guideline, consider one slide per minute. We strongly recommend you number your slides using the format “current slide number / total number of slides” (e.g., 3/10), which helps the session chair track your progress relative to the time.

If you are presenting a Short Oral Presentation or a Full Oral Presentation, you must submit your presentation by October 15, 2025 to the following e-mail address: 8isebe@ufpe.br

When sending your presentation, we ask you to include the following information in the body of your e-mail:

  • Work ID
  • Topic of the work
  • Title of the work
  • List of authors
  • Presenter’s name
  • Presentation format (Short Oral Presentation or Full Oral Presentation)

To avoid compatibility issues between PC and Mac operating systems or between different versions of PowerPoint, we strongly recommend converting your .pptx file to PDF format. However, you can still simulate animations by breaking complex animated slides into multiple static ones.

Your presentation file should be named using the following format:
“Code-AbstractNumber_LastName_Day_MorningOrAfternoon”
(e.g., ENV-025_Smith_Monday_Morning)

Please arrive at the conference room at least 15 minutes before your session begins. This will allow time to coordinate with the session chair, who will introduce you.

As the session chair will typically announce the title of your presentation, you are encouraged not to repeat it in your opening remarks to optimize your presentation time.

Instructions for Poster Presentations

Posters must be prepared in portrait orientation, with a maximum size of 120 cm (height) × 90 cm (width). Posters in A0 format (118.9 cm × 84.1 cm) are also acceptable.

Numbered display panels will be available in the designated poster exhibition area. Presenting authors are required to mount their posters prior to the scheduled session times (preferably before 8:30 a.m.). A support team will be on site to assist authors.

For those who will not be present in Recife but whose posters will be brought by colleagues, it is suggested that a short video (2–3 minutes) or a full paper file be made available to 8ISEBE participants through a QR Code printed on the poster.

There is no specific template to prepare your poster, but to effectively communicate your research, we encourage you to carefully design it, taking into consideration the following recommendations:

  • Design: The poster design is also open. However, we kindly request that authors include the event logo, the institution’s logo, a photo of the author/presenter, and the country’s flag at the top of the poster.
  • Legibility: Ensure that all text is clearly readable from a distance of 1 to 1.5 meters.
  • Contrast: Use colors that strongly contrast with the text and background.
  • Typography: Use legible fonts like Arial, Helvetica, Times New Roman, or Verdana.
  • Title: Use a large font size, ideally between 60 and 88 points.
  • Authors and Affiliations: Should be smaller than the title but still visible, typically between 36 and 56 points.
  • Body Text: Sections such as Introduction, Methodology, Results, and Conclusions should be in 24-to-36-point font.
  • Visual Elements: Prioritize graphs, tables, flowcharts, and illustrations over dense text. These should be self-explanatory, accompanied by clear legends and definitions of any symbols. You may also include brief interpretations directly beneath visual elements.
