Raphael Kramer, PhD

Short Bio

Assitant Professor at the Department of Production Engineering at the Federal University of Pernambuco. PhD in Industrial Innovation Engineering from the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia (Italy). He holds a degree in Mechanical Production Engineering (2011) and a Master’s in Production Engineering (2014) from the Federal University of Paraíba. He has experience in the field of Production Engineering, with emphasis on Operations Research, working mainly on the following topics: Combinatorial Optimization, Metaheuristics, Vehicle Routing, Production and Project Scheduling, Facility Location and Assembly Line Balancing.

Academic Activities

  • He teaches Economic Engineering, Fundamentals of Algorithms for Optimization and Special Topics in Operations Research in the undergraduate course in Production Engineering, and Advanced Topics in Operations Research in the graduate course in Production Engineering.
  • He develops research in the area of Combinatorial Optimization with a focus on solving logistics and production problems. Advises students at the undergraduate and master’s levels.

  • Development of efficient algorithms for solving production scheduling problems considering environmental aspects;
  • Development of heuristic algorithms for flowshop scheduling problems;
  • Application of combinatorial optimization methods for solving stochastic scheduling problems;
  • Development of mathematical models and metaheuristic algorithms for a multi-period school bus routing problem;
  • Development of mathematical models and algorithms for a cash replenishment problem.
