Our first graduate student, Mr. Isaac de Macedo Felix, will present his Master’s thesis on Tuesday (29.03.2016) at 10:30 am, in the auditorium of the Physics Department (DFTE). The thesis, entitled “Thermal transport in graphene-hBN superlattice nanoribbons”, employed non-equilibrium molecular dynamics
New paper accepted in Carbon – Amorphized graphene: a stiff material with low thermal conductivity.
Our latest paper “Amorphized graphene: a stiff material with low thermal conductivity” has been accepted for publication in Carbon. In this work we show that amorphized graphene samples exhibit and unusual combination of high mechanical strength and low thermal conductivity.
Workshop: Thermal and Electronic Transport in Nanostructures
We are organizing a school and workshop entitled “Thermal and Electronic Transport in Nanostructures”, which will take place at the International Institute of Physics – UFRN. The event will happen from Monday, October 31, 2016 to Friday, November 11, 2016. More information at
XXXIII Encontro de Físicos do Norte e Nordeste
During this week the XXXIII Encontro de Físicos do Norte e Nordeste takes place in Natal. This is the second largest official event of the Brazilian Physical Society, and takes place every year in a different city within the North
XXXVIII Encontro Nacional de Física da Matéria Condensada
The XXXVIII Encontro Nacional de Física da Matéria Condensada will take place from 24 to 28/May/2015 in Foz do Iguaçu, in the state of Paraná, in the south of Brazil. This is the 38th edition of this traditional meeting organized
New paper in Nature Communications – Length-dependent thermal conductivity in suspended single-layer graphene
Our first paper of 2014 “Length-dependent thermal conductivity in suspended single-layer graphene” has just been published in Nature Communications. Graphene exhibits extraordinary electronic and mechanical properties, and extremely high thermal conductivity. Being a very stable atomically thick membrane that can
